The sixth (6th) annual Carnival Joint Command Operations, 2012 has officially started and is in full swing. The operation impressively set up at the FCB Car-Park, comprise the Mobile Command Unit (trailer), Advanced Medical Post (AMP)- 12-bed medical facility) and Staging Area. Adequately staffed, the operations is being effectively run, headed by TEMA’s Director Mr. Allan Stewart and is partnered with the Trinidad and Tobago Medical Association (Tobago Branch), Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service, the Cadet Force and other volunteers.

On Sunday afternoon at around 2:30pm, the first official briefing took place in the AMP for the benefit of the doctors and nurses on duty. The operational, infrastructural, communications and personnel structures were clearly outlined in the briefing.  Thereafter, the checking, sorting and labeling of all the medical supplies was carried out.

Director of TEMA Mr. Allan Stewart expressed his appreciation to all members of staff and to our partners for their hard work and dedication to the success of this year’s operations. He made special mention of the Trinidad and Tobago Medical Association, saying that without them, such an operation would not have been successful. “I know this year would be very challenging but I know with that level of support and experience we have gained over the years, I am comfortably saying that I know we are going to be successful again this year around.”

The Chief Administrator of the Tobago House of Assembly Dr. Ellis Burris was also present at the briefing and he too expressed his confidence in the success of this year’s operation. He gave TEMA ‘good credit’ for their ability to adequately respond to any emergency that may develop over the period of the Carnival celebrations. “With the upgrade and restructuring of TEMA, we want to ensure that what TEMA is offering is unique and would serve the population in a specific way and in the final analysis we can get good production, good treatment and good service.”

After the briefing, The Chief Administrator and some doctors and nurses were lead on a tour of the operations by Director Mr. Allan Stewart.

This operation will run to the end of the Carnival celebrations at 09:00HRS on Ash Wednesday.
