Directed by our vision to be the premiere Disaster Management Agency in the region, embracing the dynamism of Modern Comprehensive Risk Management ensuring inclusion of every sector, TEMA continues to progress speedily to our desired place by undertaking intense preparatory measures.

During the period February 8th to 16th, 2012 the Logistics Unit undertook checks and maintenance of the Disaster Response Kits placed at the Emergency Shelters throughout the island.

These kits comprise generators, chainsaws, cutlasses, fire extinguishers, MRE meals, bottled water, first-aid kits, lanterns, and tarpaulins among others.  These shelters are located at:

  • Charlotteville
  • Delaford
  • Roxborough
  • Belle Garden
  • Golden Lane
  • Les Coteaux
  • L’Anse Formi
  • Glen Road
  • Calder Hall

This procedure is routinely conducted twice per year. It is mandated that the logistics team deployed to these shelters check for all the items, making sure all of them are accounted for and are in their designated place of storage, ensure all the serial numbers on the supplies and equipment are corresponding with the records, replace expired MRE meals and bottled water, replace corroded batteries and ensure all the equipment is in good working condition.

This project is just one initiative among many others of the agency to ensure adequate disaster preparedness and management for the island.
