Just about 10:10am on Wednesday 25th, 2012, Fire Officials received a fire report in the Pigeon Point, Crown Point area resulting from a malfunctioning Shutter Fan at the Andre's Gyros Arabian Restaurant & Bar then sparks were seen coming from the unit. A customer recalled seeing the cook outside while a meal was being prepared, then a short while after, smoke was seen coming from the kitchen area, then a worker called out 'fire-fire'.
Within a short space of time the ceiling of the kitchen above the area of the stove was ablaze, melting electrical cables and nearby panels, leaving burnt-out areas in the ceiling and roofing structure of the kitchen. There were no injuries connected to this incident as the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service tendant from Scarborough responded and contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to many other businesses closely adjoin to the incident scene. Fire officials are still gathering details to confirm the total cost of damage to the assets of the business and the structure of the building.
