A Successful Walk-About and Consultation in Charlotteville

TEMA’s Community Vulnerability and Risk Management Campaign continued on Tuesday afternoon 15th May, 2012 in the community of Charlotteville. Four teams of TEMA personnel and three volunteers were deployed in the different areas of Charlotteville distributing flyers containing the Hazard and Resource Map to each household.

FAHUM 2011- Training Exercise-4

The Tobago Emergency Management Agency was first established as the National Emergency Management Agency, in accordance with the Tobago House of Assembly, Executive Council Minute No.64 of March 09, 1998. By the directive given to TEMA along with the support of the National Disaster Management System, the island of Tobago would benefit from a comprehensive disaster management approach, focused on prevention, preparation and mitigation against disasters, as well as, emergency response, rehabilitation and recovery form disaster events.

Overview:

Following the November Severe Weather Events in 2004, TEMA came to the conclusion that a logistical section was an imperative component in keeping with the principle of the Incident Command System and best practices.

The Tobago Community Emergency Response Team was born from the need to have trained and certified personnel responding quickly and in an efficient and reliable manner to save lives in the event of an emergency or disaster in rural communities of Tobago. At present two (2) of proposed three (3) centers are occupied and operational. They are located at: Top Hill, Speyside and Moriah.
